INDICATIONS | Allergic and spastic cough. - Cough in inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract. - Acute and chronic bronchitis. - Tracheobronchitis |
CONTRAINDICATIONS | Hypersensitivity to the active ingredients. - Acute asthmatic attacks. - Narrow-angle glaucoma. - Prostatic gland adenoma and ureteral stenosis. - causing urine retention - Should not be used in children younger than 1 year. - Should not be used during pregnancy and lactation. |
Side EFFECTS | Somnolence, attention disorder, xerostomia, hypotension, constipation, gastrointestinal manifestations, including nausea and vomiting. |
WARNINGS | Kanahydrin should be used carefully in patients with bronchial asthma because it impedes secretion elimination.in infants antihistamine preparations (mainly in overdosage) may cause hallucinations, convulsions, and excitation. It should be used with caution in elderly persons, as it may provoke dizziness, somnolence, and arterial hypertension. The preparation should be used with caution in driving persons. During the treatment alcohol consumption is undesirable. |
DRUG INTERACTIONS | Kanahydrin potentiates effects of the hypnotic and sedative drugs, anxiolytics, tricycle antidepressant, MAOinhibitors, general anesthetics, alcohol and other suppressing CNS agents. |
Pregnancy And lactations | You should consult a doctor if this drug is prescribed to pregnant or breastfeeding women |
OVERDOSE | Some toxicity effects happened when a quantity of 500 mg of diphenhydramine has been taken (equals to 2.5 bottles of Kanahydrin), and its effects appeared on the C.N.S. Activated charcoal should be given immediately |
