INDICATIONS Symptomatic relief of moderate pains of : - Tension headache, occipital headache associated with spasm of skeletal muscles in a region of the head and neck. - Acute musculoskeletal disorders. - Acute and traumatic conditions of the limb and trunk (sprains, strains, whiplash injuries, acute torticollis, and prolapsed intervertebral disk.
CONTRAINDICATIONS Orphenadrine shows some anticholinergic activity. Thus KANAGESIC should not be used in patients with: glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, obstruction at the bladder’s neck, or mysathenia gravis.
Side EFFECTS Rarely to occur at the recommended dose. Those encountered are associated with anticholinergic activity and may include nausea, dry mouth, and blurring of vision.
WARNINGS - Orphenadrine may impair the ability of the patient to engage in potentially hazardous activities, such as operating machinery or driving a motor vehicle. Patients should therefore be cautioned accordingly. - Orphenadrine citrate should be used with caution in patients with tachycardia and coronary insufficiency. - Safty of continuous long-term therapy with orphenadrine has not been established. Therefore, if orphenadrine is prescribed for prolonged use periodic monitoring of blood, urine and liver function values are recommended. - Use in pregnancy: Safe use in pregnancy has not been established. Therefore, the drug should not be used in pregnant women.
Pregnancy And lactations You should consult a doctor if this drug is prescribed to pregnant or breastfeeding women
Dosage And Administration 2 tablets 3 times daily. Not recommended for children.
OVERDOSE Symptoms of orphenadrine are excitement, confusion delirium leading to coma. Convulsions and tachycardia with dilated pupils and urinary retention may occur. - Paracetamol may cause acute liver damage but symptoms may not appear for up to several days after ingestion. Treatment: Gastric lavage should be carried out immediately.
